Neeraj Chopra Family And Early Life
He was born and brought up in the Panipat district, Haryana on 24 December 1997 and he is 23 years old. Neeraj completed his schooling in his village itself and graduated from the DAV College, Chandigarh which is now of the oldest college found in 1958. Then he did master at Kurukshetra University, Haryana. He belongs to the Ror Maratha ethnicity. His father’s name is Sathish Kumar Chopra who is a farmer and her mother’s name is Saroj Chopra who is a housewife. Neeraj Chopra also has two sisters and their name is Sangeeta and Sarita.
He lives in a joint family where 17 members living under one roof. Neeraj Chopra said that his uncle Bheem Singh encouraged him very much and the whole village supported me very well to achieve my goal. He is also felt sad about lacking facility in his village for a sportsman. His father said that Neeraj Chopra was a mischievous kid and when he was a kid he used to twist the tails of buffalos. Sometimes he used to bust the cracker on the elderly and did a lot of trouble in his childhood. Neeraj was the eldest son of his family out of 17 members.
With a busy practicing schedule across India and abroad, Neeraj could attend regular school only up to Class IX and is now studying through the open school system.
Neeraj Career Path to Javelin Throw
In an Interview, Neeraj said that “he was very obese in childhood at the age of 11 he weighed 80 kilos. To reduce his weight he started to go to the stadium in Panipat during vacations. He traveled 17 km by bus to reach Panipat and he will have only 30rs in his pocket. On some days he will have nothing in his pocket and he cannot afford to buy juice after the practice sessions. In the stadium, he used to watch his senior Jaiveer, who has represented Haryana in Javelin. One day he got permission to throw the javelin in front of his senior and he comes to know that he can throw better than others. Then he realized his self-esteem and made his career path in this sport.
His senior Jaiveer was the first person to identify his talents and skills in Javelin thrower. After he started to practice seriously he left Panipat and goes to Panchkula. At the age of 14, the first time he is practicing in synthetic track with all national-level players.
Further, he added in the interview “That he left home when he was 14 years old, owing to a lack of facilities. Due to this his school education was disturbed at class 9. His only dream in that situation is to relocate his villagers into the city as he did. His main worry about his village is rest of the Haryana players are winnings medals in athlete but his village still lagging in the facility. Whenever he stays in his town still he needs to do practice on the roads. He said if Indian needs to win many medals “Every village should have sports stadiums and a well-trained coach from the national institute of sports.
Military Career Of Neeraj Chopra
In honor, Neeraj was appointed as a Junior Commissioned Officer in the Indan Army with the rank of Naib Subedar. He joined in the year 2016 and he is presently working. His service number is JC-471869Ain the unit of Rajputana Rifles.
Neeraj Chopra Career Achievements on Javelin Throw
He played his first junior nationals in Lucknow 2012 and broke the national record with a throw of 68.46 meters. After many years of hard work and training, Neeraj Chopra participated in various national level and international level Javelin Throw competitions. He won many medals in Asian Games, Commonwealth Games, and Asian Championships.

2020 Tokyo Olympic
On Aug 4, 2021, he qualified for the 2020 Tokyo Olympic final in Men’s Javelin Throw and he won the Gold media for India on 7th Aug 2021 with a throw of 87.58m. After 100 years of Indian history Neeraj Chopra Won Gold Medal representing India. He is the second Indian to win a gold medal in the Olympic games. On Aug 11th, 2008, Abinav Bindra won a Gold medal in the men’s air rifle 10m. Neeraj Chopra’s previous best was 88.07 m it was a gold medal-winning throw at Asian Games 2018. He is the first Indian to win the title in track and field at U-20.
Though his elbow was injured he fought for India at Tokyo Olympic 2020. He qualified to final at the throw of 86.65m.
he’s not feeling the hopes of his nation on his shoulders. “I have never taken pressure,” Neeraj Chopra said in an interview.
“I have always tried to stay free of pressure and have fun. We train to do well on the big stage.”
The Chopra family had put up a giant screen and all from the neighborhood, including children, had gathered there to watch the live-action from Tokyo. With a battery of media persons at their home, the Chopra family was busy attending to the guests. Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar, who earlier spoke to Bajrang Punia’s father, also rang up Chopra’s parents to congratulate them.
