    Emma Mckeon is an Australian sportsperson and a competitive swimmer. She received the great honor badge OAM (Order of Australia) which recognizes Australian citizens and others for their achievements and Meritorious service to the nation. She currently has five Olympic gold medals, the most in Australian history. In 2020, Tokyo Olympics she made the history of holding 7 Olympic medals in various women’s swimming competitions. She also made a record of the first woman who achieved seven medals in an Olympic at a time.

    Emma Mckeon Family and Early Life

    She was born and brought up in Wollongong, New South Wales, Australia on 24th May 1994 and she is 28 years old. She is the sister of David Mckeon who is also an Australian swimmer who participated in the 2012 Olympics and failed to achieve medals. Her father’s name is Ron Mckeon who is also a former competition swimmer who participated in the 1980 Olympics representing Australia. He has three children’s namely David Mckeon, Emma Mckeon, and Kaitlin. Out of three children two of them are on the Australian national swimming team. Her mother’s name is Susie who is also an Olympic swimmer.

    Emma Mckeon completed her schooling in  The Illawarra Grammar School in the year 2012. Then she was graduated with a bachelor’s degree in public health and health promotion with a major in nutrition from Griffith University. From her schooling days itself, Emma Mckeon participated in various swimming competitions and won many awards. After entering college she was coached by Michael Bohl at Griffith University.

    In her age 11, she has McKeon competed at the 2010 Summer Youth Olympics held in Singapore. She won a gold medal in the girls’ 4 × 100-meter medley relay; silver medals in the 100-meter freestyle and the mixed 4 × 100-meter freestyle relay; and bronze medals in the 50-meter freestyle, 200-meter freestyle, and mixed 4 × 100-meter medley relay.

    Currently, Emma Mckeon trains with St. Peters swimming club with Michael Bohl. Her best events are the 100m and 200m freestyles, and 100m butterfly.

    Apart from Olympic Games she also performed in the commonwealth games. world championship, Pan Pacific Games, and won many medals. The list of achievements that Emma got is listed below in the table.

    Olympic Games

    2012 – She missed out on selection for the London 2012 Summer Olympics by placing 7th in the 100 m freestyle, 9th in the 100 m butterfly, 10th in the 200 m freestyle, and 13th in the 50 m freestyle.

    2016 – In the year 2016 Emma Mckeon was selected for the Olympics first time representing Australia. 2016 Summer Olympics held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Interestingly her brother David Mckeon was also selected for the same Olympics competition, after 60 years Brother and sister participating in the Australian Olympics at the same time. At the 2016 Summer Olympics, she led off the 4 × 100 metre freestyle relay that won a gold medal in a world record time of 3:30.65. McKeon also went on to win a pair of silvers as a part of the 4 × 200 metre freestyle and 4 × 100 metre medley relays. She was one of five Australian individual medallists in swimming in Rio, having won a bronze medal in the 200 metre freestyle with a time of 1:54.92.In the 100 metre butterfly, she finished 6th.

    At the 2020 Summer Olympics held in Tokyo, Japan, McKeon won four gold medals. She swam the third leg of the 4 × 100 metre freestyle relay for the Australian team, which won the gold medal in a world record time of 3:29.69. On the second last day of swimming, she also went to win the 100 metre freestyle in a time of 51.96 (an Olympic record and the second fastest time in history). On the last day, she won the 50 metre freestyle with another Olympic record time of 23.81 and swam the butterfly leg in the gold-medal winning team for the 4 × 100 metre medley relay.

    McKeon also won three bronze medals: in the 100 metre butterfly (with a new Australian record of 55.72), the 4 × 200 metre freestyle relay, and the mixed 4 × 100 metre medley relay.

    McKeon won seven medals in Tokyo, the most by any female swimmer at a single Games and the equal most by a female athlete at a single Games (tied with Soviet gymnast Maria Gorokhovskaya). Her total of five Olympic gold medals (across 2016 and 2020) is an Australian record (shared with Ian Thorpe).

    Emma was in a relationship with Australian Cricketer, Tim Adlam. They separated in 2019. She is currently single and unmarried.
